Publish your thesis, final project papers

Greening of Oil magazine publishes synopses and links to graduate and final project papers that address an aspect of the energy industry.

The submission process is simple. Develop a 150-500 word summary (synopsis) that includes your topic, process and results. Submit it, your full paper, and at least one piece of art (chart, photo, or other graphic), as well as a head shot of yourself, to publisher@greeningofoil.com. Please include your school, area of study and a contact telephone number.

Greening of Oil's energy writers and scientists will review all submissions and publish those that most effectively analyze and communicate a topic of relevance to the evolving energy sector.

The synopsis and a link to your full paper will be published in Greening of Oil and listed on its Contents page.

You will not be monetarily compensated for the publication of your synopsis and full paper, and we can reprint it in full or part as often as we see fit in Greening of Oil. All articles in Greening of Oil, including student synopses and papers, are free to anyone who wants to publish them.

But you will be compensated by publicity. Within 10 days of publication of your submission in Greening of Oil, we will email up to 150 press releases to organizations of your choice, such as your school(s) and hometown media outlets, professional journals and associations, and websites. You must supply a press release list in which each recipient listing includes the name of a person, such as a reporter or editor, the name of an organization, such as a newspaper, and a working email address. (Email communications@greeningofoil.com for the press release format.)

The press release will announce the publication of your paper (specifically, your synopsis and link to your full paper), something about you, and a description of your paper and/or project, both of which you should supply in 160 words or less. We will write the actual press release, using your information as we see fit.

If you have any questions prior to submission, or would like to receive clearance on your topic before submitting a completed paper, please email communications@greeningofoil.com. Use “publish your thesis” in the subject line.

Greening of Oil will only accept completed synopses and papers. Papers should be submitted as a pdf. Synopses should be submitted without formatting in a Word file.

Following are the headline, byline, and photo or art caption specifications for synopses. Characters counts should include all letters, numbers, spaces and punctuation.

Headline: 100 maximum characters

Bylines: should contain your name and school - By Joe Smith, University of Alaska-Fairbanks

Captions/cutlines: maximum of 80 characters

Please supply a suggested excerpt that contains no more than 150 characters.

You have the option of supplying your email at the end of your synopsis and/or full paper in this format: Contact Joe Smith at joesmith@gmaxx.com.

Photos and other graphics should be submitted in high resolution whenever possible.

That said, compress all files as we do not accept emails larger than 10 MB.

Scholarships

Greening of Oil scholarships are available to students enrolled in university and vocational schools, with the exception of online educational institutions.

While open for any field of study, a special program has been designed for those pursuing degrees in journalism. Among other things, applicants going for journalism degrees must be also pursuing a minor in a science or economics, which could include finance, business development, entrepreneurship, etc.

If you're working in education and are interested in providing Greening of Oil scholarship information to students, email scholarships@greeningofoil.com.

Scholarship specifications and instructions on how to apply will be released by Greening of Oil soon. Subscribe at no cost today to receive an email when complete program information is available.

Internship, graduate and apprentice programs

The following student internship, graduate and apprentice programs are only for oil and/or gas producing companies. In late January 2010, Greening of Oil will add programs for alternative energy and coal companies. By late March, we expect to also have programs for service and supply firms.

All suggestions are welcome. Email publisher@greeningofoil.com.
