Canadian Mat Systems supports Heli-Rig oil drilling
CMS provides driller with light weight, high strength composite mat solution
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada – (January 7, 2010) – Canadian Mat Systems (CMS) has provided an international oil driller with a light weight, high strength composite mat solution to access remote locations in the Brazilian jungle. The company, specializing in heli-rig drilling, will air lift a full complement of CMS’s FiberCon composite mats by helicopter to perform exploratory drilling in the jungle. The ability to transport the four-inch thick composite mats into hard-to-reach areas minimizes the operation’s environmental footprint.
The company selected FiberCon because the composite mat is almost two-thirds lighter than conventional mats yet offers the high capacity foundation
needed to support drilling operations. The company will reduce transportation costs along with greenhouse gas emissions. The corrosion resistant mats, able to withstand extreme temperatures, offer an anti-slip surface and long life cycle. The environmental strain associated with replacing wood mats multiple times in the same timeframe is eliminated.
