So Alejo Contreras is the name of the fellow that got dropped in the middle of Antarctica to refuel Robert Swan's Plane as he flew to rescue his men. That was the first time he had been to Antarctica and he's been going back ever since.

With regards to burning the trash, the bases are meant to export the stuff by ship. But apparently it's easier to burn it in one of the abandoned oil tanks. We ran into a pod of seals just as we got on our Zodiaks. That day was one amazing day. After the seals we ran into a pod of Killer Whales. Then the Killer whales started going at the seals. Then they started chasing a penguin. Pretty gruesome.
