Greening of Oil provides information about careers in the energy industry in its $70,000-plus a year section, which features people who have interesting careers in the energy business and spend their free time (and money) doing fun, sometimes out of the ordinary, things.
Most of the individuals in $70,000-plus a year, which is listed on our Contents page, work in the oil and gas industry, but no energy source is left out of our coverage.
The $70,000 amount comes from our knowledge (via sister publication Petroleum News) of the rate of pay in the oil and gas industry. But it’s just an approximation. Depending on an individual’s field, education and experience, his or her annual salary could be less or more than $70,000, although it’s almost always higher than salaries offered by academic, government and other business sectors.
Good pay isn’t all the oil and gas industry has to offer—great benefits and retirement plans, opportunities to work in several different countries, and sometimes in-house health clubs and child care, can also be part of the package.
Contrary to public perception, not all people working in the oil and gas industry are engineers or geologists. Almost every company of any size has individuals with degrees in finance, marketing, law, public relations, paleontology, journalism, business development, chemistry, computer science, aviation and biology on its employee roster.
Individuals who are employed by companies that service and supply the energy industry will also be covered, including divers, truckers, engineers, drillers, meteorologists and others.
Read about them all, up close and personal, in Greening of Oil’s $70,000-plus a year section.
