Be smart, decide for yourself

Greening of Oil is a science-based,  magazine that tracks the environmental footprint of fossil fuels, scrutinizing what is being done to make natural gas, oil and coal more earth-friendly energy sources during what is expected to be a decades-long shift to cleaner and cleaner power.

Written by experienced journalists and free to everyone, Greening of Oil news articles contain no opinion pieces or editorials. It is a fact-based publication, free from the clutter of personal opinions and a key resource for people who care about the environmental performance of energy companies.

We all use energy. We all need it. Let us provide you with the science to be smart about it.

Active web site, annual print edition

Original articles, written by experienced, insightful journalists, are posted several times a month.

Updated versions appear in Greening of Oil’s annual print edition, which is also available online as an easy-to-navigate pdf. The first annual print edition will be released in April 2011. If you would like to receive a print copy, email info@greeningofoil.com.

Greening of Oil’s owner, sister pub

Greening of Oil is owned by Anchorage-based Petroleum Newspapers of Alaska LLC, or PNA, an independent publishing company that is primarily owned by its employees.

A weekly oil and gas newspaper that covers Alaska and northern and western Canada, Petroleum News is PNA’s flagship publication.

Founded in 1996, the weekly online and print newspaper provides news about the oil and gas industry, not on its behalf, to people in the energy business, government officials and the general business community.

Highest journalistic standards

The news staffs of Petroleum News and Greening of Oil adhere to the highest journalistic standards.

Unlike most publications, Petroleum News and Greening of Oil do not take positions on issues, and so do not publish self-generated opinion pieces or editorials from staff members or from anyone connected to their owner, PNA.

The publications also differ from their peers in that they do not have content calendars, allowing writers to focus on timely, significant information versus writing puff pieces to satisfy a calendar for advertisers.
